BALTIMORE - iSportsWire -- Calloway Lee is a free agent football player, originally from Baltimore, now living in Lake Worth, Florida. Lee has been working tirelessly through the current pandemic to maintain his physical readiness, in the hopes of finding a new team to call home, following his recent graduation from Virginia University of Lynchburg. With Pro Days cancelled across the country, Lee's hopes of landing in the NFL were shut down, and he had to turn his focus to other leagues. While he awaits opportunities to workout for the Canadian Football League next spring, he is staying on top of his charitable initiatives here at home.

Calloway Lee makes a point to return home to Baltimore between rigorous training sessions in Florida. When Lee is not training or spending time with family, his focus is on finding ways to better his home community through charitable giveback. He recently partnered with Helping Up Mission, a local organization dedicated to serving those in need in the Baltimore community. Helping Up Mission's goal is to provide hope to people experiencing homelessness, poverty or addiction by meeting their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Calloway Lee had the opportunity last Thursday to volunteer with Helping Up Mission in their food pantry, which proved to be a very poignant and meaningful experience for him.

"Growing up in Baltimore, I saw a large population of homeless and hungry people in my community, " Lee stated.

With those needy individuals in his hometown community weighing heavy on his heart, Lee wanted to find a way to make an impact in the areas that needed it the most. Even during his college years, he tried to make a difference by purposefully saving up extra cash from his campus meal card. He would then use those funds to purchase small items such as granola bars, sandwiches, gatorades and any other small items to take back home to Baltimore to hand out to homeless individuals.

"Baltimore is my city and these are my people. As you go through your journey in life, you identify something within yourself that is 'your calling,' and I believe I have truly found mine," Lee said.

Lee is adamant about making an impact, not only in his hometown, but also in any city where he plays. His partnership with Helping Up Mission ensures that he can continue his charitable initiatives in his hometown on a regular basis, and give back to the community that has given so much to him.
