FORT WORTH, Texas - iSportsWire -- CFL Calgary Stampeders' linebacker, Basil Jackson, earned the title "tackling machine" for his ferocity and never-give-up attitude on the field. Off the field, Basil is one of the most humble, gentle, and soft-spoken people you will ever meet. Though his debut season with the Calgary Stampeders in Canada was canceled due to Covid, the professional linebacker and German Bowl Champion has managed to keep his head up and heart open.

The trials and obstacles Basil faced growing up have molded and shaped him into the man he is today. He knows that, without effort and putting in the work, you won't get the rewards you are wanting or hoping for. While his determination and drive pushes him ever forward, he gives all the credit to God.

His hard work, never give up mentality and his humility have opened up doors he never thought possible. He helped lead the Braunschweig New-Yorker Lions of the German Football League to the German Bowl championship win in 2019 before signing with the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL. He has become a notable motivational speaker, sharing his life events and lessons to help give hope to at-risk youth. Basil knows he has much to be thankful for. He tries to keep his gratitude at the forefront of his mind at all times. Whenever I have my glow going, it is usually because I am grateful about the things in my life. Basil's gratitude wasn't learned overnight. It was a gradual process for him because, as most of us know, life has many ups and downs that make us focus on the negative and what we don't have.

"I feel like thankfulness has developed well over the course of my life. There have been many days where I didn't think I would make it this far. But as I continued to focus on the positives in my life and look for the good, I find myself not dwelling so much on the trials I am facing and become super thankful for what I do have," said Jackson.
