SAN ANTONIO - iSportsWire -- Black Diamond PR & Sport Management Firm, one of the top 10 independently owned Sport Management Firms in the U.S., is pleased to announce the signing of their client, and San Antonio native, Alex Anderson, to the San Antonio Gunslingers. The San Antonio Gunslingers are a professional arena team in the National Arena League (NAL), located in San Antonio, TX.
Alex Anderson, a San Antonio native, is a 6'5, 300 lb defensive tackle out of Texas College. He has also played on the offensive side as a tackle. Alex is the little brother of Ryan Anderson, who most recently played for the Washington Redskins. Anderson is taking in his big brother's footsteps by starting his professional football career. Initially he signed with the Wyoming Mustangs but has since moved back home to be with the Gunslingers. Alex's large frame and quick feet were key signing factors for San Antonio. He will be a monumental addition to their organization.
"Playing for the San Antonio gunslingers is the opportunity I've always wanted," said Anderson. "This has been something I've wanted for a while and it just feels right. To be able to play at the professional level and be close to home means everything and I'm humble and appreciate the opportunity."

The San Antonio Gunslingers were announced, at the end of 2021, as an expansion team for the 2022 season in the NAL. Back in the 80's the original USFL had a team called the San Antonio Gunslingers which was the last time that San Antonio was home to a professional football team, until now. The Gunslingers will play their home games at Freeman Coliseum which houses 9,000 spectators. San Antonio is led by Head Coach Fred Shaw who is hopeful that this team will be able to bring home a championship to San Antonio.
In 2021, National Arena League had active teams in Jacksonville, Florida; Columbus, Georgia; Greensboro, North Carolina; Orlando, Florida; Albany, New York; Trenton, New Jersey and Ontario, Canada. Before the shortened 2021 season began, Ontario went dormant leaving 6 active teams. Albany Empire, led by head coach Tom Menas, brought home the NAL championship in 2021. The NAL has announced two expansion teams for the 2022 season, West Virginia Roughriders and San Antonio Gunslingers; making 8 active teams for the 2022 season. The NAL has adopted the "Ironman football" rules going forward as a league. This system of football will have players playing on both sides of the ball and the NAL hopes for exciting seasons moving forward.
