NEW HAVEN, Conn. - iSportsWire -- As a nation turns the page to the new year, a different kind of countdown begins. From December 26 to January 1, millions will observe Kwanzaa, a 7-day celebration of African-American culture and community.

"For too long, the narrative of Black life in America has been one of brokenness and fracture," says Patrina Reddick, the visionary songwriter and producer behind the project. The Heart of Kwanzaa asks us to explore Umoja, Our Unity; Kujichagulia, Self-Determination; and Ujima, Collective Work and Responsibility.

The album is the work of Patrina Reddick, a master songwriter and producer whose catalogue spans hundreds of songs. A writer from her earliest years, Reddick infuses her music with hard-won wisdom. She is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of PIMOSH (People Involved in Motivating Our Students Higher), an arts, education, and technology firm serving students K-12.
