The origin of ninjutsu is often a highly disputed topic in the martial arts community, with clans from Japan's Koga and Iga regions, each claiming direct lineage. "When I was a kid growing up in the ghetto, I had no idea what Koga or Iga even were. I did know that I wanted to be like Frank Dux in Bloodsport, but I have a different teaching style than Dux, so here I am with a Dux Ryu Renegade school," said McKinley, who holds a 5th Dan in Dux Ryu Ninjutsu, and a 4th Degree Blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do.

McKinley credits his wife of ten years, Dr. Ilona Koti, for teaching him the intelligence component of ninjutsu. "My wife was a foreign diplomat and the Head of Due Diligence for a division of the United Nations where she investigated Syrian terrorists. I've since watched her find someone in the middle of the Yukon based on the location of a water tower, and change an indemnification clause as a non-attorney.
