HOUSTON - iSportsWire -- Revolution Soccer Complex, Houston's best and most innovative soccer facility, is proud to announce the creation of the Revolution Soccer Foundation, a non-profit focused on providing free soccer to children of all ages and ability levels.
To kick off the Foundation and raise funds to underwrite it, Revolution Soccer Complex will host the Revolution Soccer Foundation Cup, a 5v5 soccer tournament on May 17th. All of the proceeds from the tournament will go directly to funding the Revolution Soccer Foundation.
Team registrations start at $200 and include a minimum of three games. Winners will receive trophies and medals plus other prizes. Sponsorships are also available for companies and organizations that are interested in supporting the mission of the Foundation. To register, visit RevolutionSoccerComplex.com/tournaments.

"The pay-for-play concept has been a challenge in American soccer for decades, particularly for lower-income families," said Revolution Soccer Foundation Co-Founder Nathan Woodbridge. "The beauty of this game all around the world is that you only need a ball and some space to play, and our goal is to provide that to kids here in Houston, to give them a safe place to play, regardless of their skill level or their parents' income level."
The Revolution Soccer Foundation will offer a range of free soccer options for local kids, starting with RevKids Afternoon, an after-school program which is set to begin March 17th, and will include transportation, a full soccer kit, on-field soccer instruction, a meal, and time to do some homework. The program is launching in partnership with YES Prep, First Student, and Get on the Bus to create an environment for kids to play, study, and eat after school.
Future programs include the RevKids Recreational program which includes two practice sessions per week and games on the weekend at Revolution Soccer Complex, the Revolution Academy Competitive program that includes practice sessions at Revolution and competitive games in a sanctioned league against other Houston-area clubs, and the RevTots program for toddlers and kids from 18 months to 5 years old. Revolution Soccer Foundation also hosts a number of initiatives throughout the year to support area children, including a back-to-school supply drive and a sports equipment and toy drive for the holiday season.
