Southeast High School Sophomore Krishan Myrick Nominated for KC Metro NAIA's Champions of Character which connects with the NAIA community
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - iSportsWire -- Krishan Myrick, 15, a sophomore at Southeast High school in Kansas City, MO has been nominated by head coach Reginald Ramsey for the NAIA's Champions of Character. The Champions of Character connects with the community at NAIA National Championships, annually impacting more than 30,000 individuals through outreach activities to local schools and youth sports program. Champions of Character provides training for student-athletes and professional development for coaches and staff. The values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership are put into play and accounted for at NAIA schools.
Krishan has been a member of the Southeast Lady Knights for 2 years. During the 4 years of her sister power forward, La'Shonda Myrick, Krishan was a constant with the team. Now, a mainstay within the team and school, Krishan has always been a community oriented scholar. After a stellar academic start at Kansas City's Brookside Charter, Krishan attributes her start to the school and teachers like Ms. Rebecca Duguid and Mrs. Shampayne Mitchell. Choosing to support the community, Krishan and her family have been integral in donating time and resources to the Lady Knights basketball team. Through the creation of BGE Shoes and Apparel and BGE Charities, Krishan hopes to continue creating a lasting legacy of hope and growth for young girls like her.

Krishan said,"I was "so proud" to receive the nomination and appreciative of Coach Ramsey for choosing me to nominate. Being a freshman and lettering was a lot for me to take in. I was shocked to letter my first year in high school. I was not that good. But, I learned alot about leadership and hustle from my coaches. Like Coach Gibbs saying little things here and there throughout the game. It is the best thing for a young player like me and my teammates. I want to be better. Having positive people around is great. I appreciate my trainer Coach Clyde Harvey. This nomination is for all those that support young women and those of color like me. I didn't think going to Lincoln Prep was my only chance to be great. Southeast is a great place to be great at too. Shoutout to my principal Dr. Chambers. Let's Go Lady Knights!"
This inspiring event recognizes student-athletes, coaches, businesses and teams that exemplify the Five Core Values of the NAIA's Champions of Character program. This year's 2022 KC Metro Champions of Character High School Student-Athlete of Character (9th) Luncheon will be held at the Kansas CIty Marriott Downtown Muehlebach Tower.
